3:00 PM | Accumulating snow threat tomorrow night primarily N and W of the District

Discussion

Weak high pressure will lose control of the weather around here early tomorrow as it shifts off the east coast while a low pressure system heads northeast from the southeastern part of the country towards the Virginia Capes. The air will be only moderately cold for this system; consequently, precipitation that begins during the afternoon hours should be in the form of rain. However, once the low scoots to the coast and our winds shift to a more northerly direction, colder air will move in and the rain will mix with sleet and snow and then the precipitation should change to all snow early tomorrow night with accumulations possible in the 1-2 inch range; especially, to the N and W of the District as temperatures drop to the low 30’s.
